Frequently asked about
How does Catego® for Cats kill fleas and ticks on my cat?
Catego® for Cats protects through a triple-action formula of dinotefuran, fipronil and pyriproxyfen. These ingredients work together to kill fleas and ticks through contact, which means these pests do not have to bite your cat to die.
Once they land on your cat, the pests come into contact with the treated skin and hairs. The more they move on the cat to find a location to bite, the more they are exposed to the active ingredients of Catego® for Cats and the sooner they are affected.
Does Catego® for Cats control other pests besides fleas and ticks?
Yes. Catego® for Cats is proven to protect your cat for a full month from chewing lice.
Does Catego® for Cats work if the parasites don’t bite my cat?
Yes. Catego® for Cats kills through contact, which means a bite is not required.
What happens to the active ingredients once Catego® for Cats has been applied to my cat?
After application, Catego® for Cats spreads over the cat’s body to provide full body protection against all stages of fleas. It starts working with the first application, killing fleas on cats in 6 hours, and continues for up to one month.
Are the active ingredients in Catego® for Cats fatal for dogs?
No, your dog is not at risk if you use Catego® for Cats on your cat.
Does Catego® for Cats break the flea lifecycle, or does it only kill adult fleas?
The pyriproxyfen in Catego® for Cats is an IGR, or insect growth regulator, which means that flea eggs and flea larvae are not able to develop into adult fleas. Regular monthly use breaks the flea life cycle on cats and protects against all stages of fleas.
How quickly does Catego® for Cats begin to work?
Catego® for Cats works fast, killing fleas on cats in 6 hours.
Why should I worry about immature fleas and fleas on my cat?
Flea infestations can be a real pain – and the adult fleas you see on your cat are only 5% of the total infestation. The remainder of the infestation is caused by flea eggs, larvae, and pupae in your home environment. If you have a flea infestation, it can take up to 3 or 4 months of use to completely get rid of all of the immature life stages. A single dose of Catego® for Cats effectively stops flea infestations and prevents re-infestations on your cat for one month.
Are there any health conditions or situations where I should not use Catego® for Cats on my cat?
